Katrina and Kellen: The Couple Full of Smiles
Updated: May 4
I've been lucky to know Katrina for quite sometime since she is in school with my wife. I was very happy when she reached out to me to help capture her and Kellen in a comfortable environment. We met up slightly before Golden Hour in East Nashville at Shelby Bottoms and waited patiently for the beautiful light to come our way. We took pictures for over an hour and laughed and smiled the whole time. Within minutes of getting started, I was quickly able to help them loosen up and get very comfortable in front of the camera. We captured all the images they wanted for a beautiful couples engagement type of shoot with perfect lighting and weather at our disposal. I didn't want the light and picture taking to end. Sadly, it got dark and we parted ways. Here are a few of my favorite images from the photo shoot.
This was the last location we stumbled upon. We were heading back to the car and the light was fading fast. Walking past the Shelby Bottoms Nature Center, we found this little circle path through this tall foliage. I quickly asked them to walk away and just enjoy it and the last for minutes together. I quietly captured the moment before asking them to walk back towards me as the last few minutes of light started to fade away.
We ventured towards the boat ramp on the Cumberland River that over looks downtown Nashville as the sun was setting. While I was bummed it was setting on that side and we had to shoot into the light, I was very happy to capture this back lit moment. The light was as warm as they are.
Before we went to the boat ramp, I found some neat over growth and asked Katrina to squat down and placed her head in front of the sunlight. We sat for a minute and chatted until she started laughing (which is very often!) and then I started to snap away. While it's not a traditional head shot, I love the way it turned out and you can't help but smile along!
